Then put that file into the same folder as your video file, and run the command I posted above but change the "test.mp4" into the correct name of the file you want to transcode. You have to unpack the file called "ffmpeg.exe" which is located in the "bin" folder. Premier should have no issues decoding that, and chances are it will perform better than the HEVC file as well. DNxHR is a format specifically designed for video editing.

This will take the file "test.mp4" and then create a copy of it called "output.mov" that will be in the DNxHR HQ format. \ffmpeg.exe -i ".\test.mp4" -c:v dnxhd -profile:v dnxhr_hq -c:a copy "output.mov" I don't have much experience with intermediate formats, but here is am example of how to convert to that using FFmpeg: Since you're on version 21 you might not be a high priority though.ģ) Transcode the HEVC file into some other format and then work on that. Probably depends on how many are affected. This might be quick, or it might take months. It's better than not being able to work on your files.Ģ) Wait for a fix to get released. I know you said you don't want to, but maybe you have to for the time being. I don't really have a fix for your problem, but since this seems to be a fairly widespread issue my suggestions would be:ġ) Try installing a different version of Premier. Premiere Pro supports hardware-based decoding for H.264 and H.265 (HEVC) which can significantly improve performance with these codecs, but not all 'flavors' of these codecs are supported depending on the bit depth and chroma subsampling used. This is why proprietary codecs need to die. Ms-windows-store://pdp/?ProductId=9n4wgh0z6vhqĬopy and paste this link in your browser.

(Yes I'm one of those editors that used it frequently and would love to stick to Premiere 21 until Adobe comes to senses and actually fixes that Q button.) The HEVC files will play without issue on Premiere 22 on the new PC but I'm not willing to switch over because of the Q button ripple delete shortcut they "fixed". I have updated all drivers and even tried installing other codecs to no avail, so any help or guidance in this matter would be greatly appreciated. I found that I had installed K-Lite codec pack on my previous PC so I did the same on the new one but it still wouldn't play H265 files. It fails to import and keeps telling me that the HEVC codec is missing. Only problem is that now the HEVC files wouldn't play on Premiere 21 anymore. This is my upgraded PC that I put together last week: I had Premiere Pro 2021 installed on the PC and it played HEVC mp4 files without issue. I recently upgraded from my soon-to-be-outdated-but-still-worth-it editing rig which was: I'm a video editor and I use Premiere Pro to edit all my videos (honestly I'm stuck with Adobe just like LTT) Hi all, after scouring the internet and failing at finding a solution, I'm hoping to find some answers here.
